I co-founded CloseBot, an AI platform that qualifies leads and books appointments by having an actual conversation with them. It runs across the channels businesses already use, and it works at three in the morning, which is the part that turns out to matter most.

How I got here

I trained as a mechanical engineer at the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology, then spent several years at Boeing as an equipment and tool engineer, a production tooling stress engineer, and an automation control engineer. It was good work. It was also work where the thing I built and the thing a customer felt were separated by several years and a lot of other people.

So I left, and taught myself to write software. Before that I had built Cobras.io and Finite Languages — the first to manage client communications, the second a platform for multilingual bloggers. Both taught me more about what people will actually put up with in a product than any amount of planning would have.

Why CloseBot exists

The problem is response latency. A lead that gets a real reply in minutes converts at a dramatically higher rate than one that gets a reply the next morning, and no human team covers every hour. I had built a rough version of an AI qualifier for my own business before ChatGPT launched. When it launched, it was obvious what the rough version could become, and I went all in.

CloseBot has since booked over a million appointments and handles six figures' worth of messages a day. The number I actually care about is different: how often the person on the other end could not tell, and did not need to.

What I write about here

Mostly what I have learned operating an AI setter at scale: what the published benchmarks get wrong, where these systems genuinely fail, and the decisions behind how we build them. Some of it is uncomfortable for a vendor to publish, which is roughly how I pick what to write about.
